Not One but Two Habitat for Humanity Build Days

11/13/2018

On Friday, September 28 and Wednesday, October 24, 15 Host employees volunteered with Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland at a single-family home in Hyattsville, MD. On the build day in September, volunteers applied spray foam insulation and dug holes for the fence posts. The second group returned in October to install siding and mount fence caps.

The project is part of Habitat for Humanity’s rehabilitation program where properties are gutted, rebuilt and sold to carefully selected income-qualified families. Habitat for Humanity allows families to purchase a home with 0% financing and 1% down in exchange for 200 hours of a “sweat equity” contribution toward their new home. The owner was on site both days assisting the volunteers with the construction projects.
