A Bevy of Habitat Build Days

10/02/2019

In the span of a single week, 15 Host employees came together to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland in two locations.

The first group of volunteers rolled up their sleeves on September 5, 2019 at the Silver Spring Habitat ReStore and took part in a Playhouse Build. Project Playhouse is Habitat for Humanity’s latest endeavor in which solid wood, colorfully decorated playhouses are built for and given to Habitat families, military families and community partners that serve low-income families in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties. Volunteers built and decorated two different playhouses.

On Wednesday, September 11, nine employees braved the heat and took part in a Habitat Home Build Day in Capitol Heights, MD. Throughout the day, the team helped construct two Habitat homes by building framing and applying vinyl siding. According to Chris Eckstein, “We loved the camaraderie and opportunity to embrace our common values of corporate citizenship. We all agreed that the Habitat for Humanity home builds are one of our favorite events and would love to do more.”
