Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport Celebrates Grand Re-opening

03/21/2017

On December 6, Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport celebrated its grand re-opening following a two year renovation of guestrooms, ballrooms and meeting spaces. The evening started with remarks from the Mayor of the City of Burlingame, the hotel General Manager, and representatives from Host Hotels & Resorts.

Vice President of Asset Management Phil Brezinski noted that the goal of the renovation was to transform the hotel into an attractive lodging option for the 21st century traveler. Vice President of Design & Procurement Helen Jorgensen noted as well that the hotel was designed to meet the growing need for upscale hotel accommodations near the airport. She discussed how the design choices pay homage to the hotel’s location, such as a cool-toned palette of blues and greys, a collection of artwork by local San Francisco Bay Area artists, and featured artworks with recycled airplane parts as a nod to the nearby airport. Senior Vice President of Engineering and Sustainability Rick Werber highlighted the property’s new sustainability features, including high efficiency chillers with free cooling, LED lighting throughout, a new roofing system and upgraded guest room HVAC with integrated energy management system.

The renovation also features 789 remodeled guestrooms, two new ballrooms with views of the San Francisco Bay and a new bar and restaurant within the re-designed central atrium.
