Host Hotels & Resorts, Inc. Named to Dow Jones Sustainability Index North America and Achieved the Number One Position in the United States for Listed Companies by GRESB

BETHESDA, Md., Oct. 10, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Host Hotels & Resorts, Inc. (NYSE:HST) (the “Company”), the nation’s largest lodging real estate investment trust, has been recognized for its corporate responsibility leadership by the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (“DJSI”) and the Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (“GRESB”). For the first time, the Company was named to the DJSI North America Index, joining the top 20 percent of the largest and most sustainable North American companies of the S&P Global Broad Market Index. In addition, the Company earned the top position in the Hotels sector and in the United States for Listed companies, and is ranked 8th among all 823 GRESB participants. The Company also achieved the “Green Star” designation from GRESB, which recognizes outstanding management and implementation of key sustainability issues.

Launched in 1999, DJSI is maintained by S&P Dow Jones Indices and RobecoSAM and measures the performance of sustainability leaders. Companies undergo a comprehensive assessment of long-term economic, environmental and social criteria and only the top industry leaders are included in the Indices. This was the Company’s first response to DJSI.

In the GRESB Real Estate Assessment, which benchmarks environmental, social and governance performance against peers, the Company has improved its overall score each year since its first response in 2013, with a 12-point improvement since last year to 94 out of 100. Significant increases occurred in monitoring & environmental management system, building certifications and stakeholder engagement.
