Walk to End Alzheimer's

Recognized as the top fundraising team for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s – Washington, D.C. Raised over $100,000 through fundraisers – including a cupcake sale and internal online auction – and PTO donated by employees.

Weeded and mulched around flower beds and trees, painted the entire exterior of the Welcome Center, the back of the Training Center and fencing.

PetConnect Rescue

Mended Little Hearts

Assembled Bravery Bags for Mended Little Hearts’ hospital outreach Bravery Bag Program. Packed each bag with toiletries, coloring books and pencils, pens, notebooks, a wristband and more which will give families of children with Congenital Heart Disease a few essentials needed for a hospital stay.

Hosted a bake sale benefiting Manna Food Center’s Smart Sacks program, which serves students in our community who qualify for free or reduced meals. Raised over $500, which was matched by Host’s service team.

Capital Area Food Bank

Packed almost 200 boxes of meat, weighing about 40 pounds each. Removed bags of cereal from over 1,400 boxes and attached nutritional information labels. Donated over 200 pounds of non-perishable items through a food drive leading up to the event.

Operation Gratitude

Helped Operation Gratitude with its mission to thank every American who serves. Assembled Battalion Buddy bears for the children of deployed military, made paracord “survival” bracelets, donated Halloween candy to be included in care packages and wrote letters of gratitude to those who serve.

Volunteered with Junior Achievement to teach students about fiscal responsibility at JA Finance Park in Montgomery County — a reality-based mock city where students experience the challenges of making real-life financial decisions. Humane Rescue Alliance

Created dog rope and catnip toys using t-shirts donated by Host employees and distributed the toys to dogs and cats in the adoption center. Sponsored five animals, which covers the average cost of care for these pets including food, enrichment supplies, vaccines and other medical services.

Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay

Joined thousands of volunteers in a multi-day effort to support a cleaner and healthier Chesapeake watershed as part of the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay's Project Clean Stream. Conducted water quality monitoring tests, recorded the location of invasive plants and collected microtrash, which is extremely harmful to the environment and local wildlife.

Habitat for Humanity

Participated in Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland's Women Build in which 30 teams of women worked together in a multi-day fundraising effort to support renovations and new homes for low-income, hardworking families in our local community. Continued work on the same house that another group of Host volunteers started in the fall. Worked alongside homeowners to install new siding.

Involved in the Ready 365 Partners in Preparedness program and participate in an ongoing collaboration with the American Red Cross to organize donations for disaster relief efforts in our global community.
