Toys for the Humane Rescue Alliance

08/28/2018

On August 9, 23 employees joined Host’s service team to create pet toys at the Humane Rescue Alliance in Washington D.C., an organization that works to connect homeless pets with loving homes while also offering adoption, training and medical services for local animal rescue. The group used old t-shirts donated by Host employees and braided them around a tennis ball to make dog rope toys. With the leftover material, volunteers assembled catnip pillows for cats to hug, kick and enjoy for hours.

Afterwards, the group had a private tour of the facility and an opportunity to hand out the toys and treats to adoptable animals. Employees also selected five animals to sponsor – Chole, Lucky, Marshmallow, Pepper and Scooby-Doo. Our sponsorship covers the average cost of care for these pets during their stay at the Humane Rescue Alliance including food, enrichment supplies, vaccines and other medical services.
