Host Employees Help Distribute Food in Our Community

06/22/2023

On Thursday, May 25, twenty-nine Host employees volunteered with Latin American Youth Center (LAYC) at a food distribution site in Prince George’s County, MD. As part of its mission to transform the lives of low-income youth, Latin American Youth Center provides multi-cultural and comprehensive programs that address youths’ social, academic, career and wellness needs. Each year, LAYC serves over 4,000 youth and their families in D.C. and Maryland through school-based sites and centers, including a weekly food distribution.

After setting up the distribution site and packing hundreds of bags with potatoes, onions, cabbage and other food, volunteers handed out bags to community members, directed traffic for the curbside pick-up, and packed bags in cars. Following the event, volunteers helped clean up the site and pack up the remaining bags to be distributed at other LAYC programs.

In total, we helped to distribute food to 178 households, representing about 888 individuals in our community.
