On November 11, over 30 employees joined Host’s service team to honor our Veterans through a day of hands-on service and sweet treats—supporting organizations that empower and make a lasting difference in the lives of our nation’s heroes and their families.

In partnership with Operation Gratitude and Warrior Canine Connection, volunteers made paracord bracelets, wrote letters of appreciation, assembled supply bags for Veterans and their service dogs, and connected with service dog handlers to learn about the life-changing role trained service dogs play in supporting recovering Veterans in their healing journeys.

Event Highlights:

• 133 paracord bracelets—symbolic bracelets made of strong rope which can be used for survival situations, first aid and other utilitarian tasks—crafted for deployed service members
• 41 handwritten letters of gratitude for deployed service members and Veterans
• 40 "Graduate Supply Bags" filled with essential dog-related items assembled for Veterans receiving new service dogs

In addition, employees hosted a bake sale featuring treats from Dog Tag Bakery and other local bakeries that support Veterans, which surpassed its fundraising goal. All proceeds—which were matched by Host—will go directly toward Camillus House’s Veteran Housing Program in Miami, FL., helping provide housing and emergency support services for Veterans in need.
