This award, presented by the Hospitality Asset Managers Association, recognizes the best sustainability strategy for a hotel project.

Over the past three years, Host completed three main energy efficiency and sustainability projects. New cooling equipment was installed and the new heat pump connects to the lake water circuit, allowing heat to be extracted and used in the various heating systems. Not only is the process more efficient, it is also more cost effective to produce heat with the energy generated by this system versus procuring heat from the city. Further heat savings will originate from the installation of heat recovery coils in key systems allowing heat energy from exhaust ventilation to preheat air coming into the building. Finally, the replacement of original and inefficient air handling units will further moderate electricity costs. Additional sustainability projects include new switchgear, slow-flow showerheads and faucets and revamped plumbing.
