In May 2025, Fairmont Kea Lani, Maui achieved LEED Silver® certification with its transformational guestroom and lobby renovation. Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, LEED is the preeminent program for the design, construction, maintenance and operations of high-performance green buildings and considered the benchmark in the green building industry.
Inspired by “Mauka to Makai”—from the mountains to the sea—and celebrating the Hawaiian experience and a new era of island luxury, the renovation updated 450 guestrooms, guestroom corridors, and the hotel’s lobby and public space. Sustainability features include:
Host is the first lodging REIT to issue green bonds and the only lodging REIT with a sustainability-linked credit facility supporting green building certification. Host now has 21 properties with LEED certification—including four LEED Gold® hotels as well as Host’s corporate headquarters—and 26% of our consolidated portfolio is LEED-certified. We are on track toward our target of having 40% of our hotels achieve LEED certification by 2030.
