Host Employees Hold a Virtual Food Drive to Help Students and Families in Critical Need

05/08/2020

Between April 17 and April 30, Host employees participated in a virtual food drive in support of DC Food Project’s “Weekend Bag Program,” which provides D.C. students and their families with healthy non-perishable food items to last them over the weekend when they may not have access to food, especially with schools closed due to COVID-19. Through purchasing food items from an online registry, cash donations and a company contribution on behalf of Host’s service team, we donated over $10,000 to help fill up Emergency Weekend Bags for those in critical need during this time.

DC Food Project co-founder Alysa MacClellan said, “Our team would like to thank the Host Hotels & Resorts employees for their generous donations to DC Food Project. During these unknown and very challenging times, our Emergency Weekend Bag Program provides bags of food to over 470 families throughout eight D.C. public school communities. These families receive food that is meant to last up to 10 days, amounting to over 50,000 meals. Host's donations helped our team cover the costs for an entire distribution week—to you all, we are forever grateful.”
