Organized a professional clothing drive for A Wider Circle’s Professional Development Center. Toured the organization’s facility in Silver Spring, MD to see first-hand the impact of our clothing donations and furniture donations from local hotel renovation projects.
Partnered with Central Union Mission to sponsor 70 at-risk local children by donating, purchasing and wrapping presents.
Partnered with Warrior Canine Connection to purchase dog items, wrap each item, write thank you notes and assemble supply bags that are presented to a veteran when paired with a service dog.
We celebrated Pride Month by hosting a special all-employee event featuring keynote speaker Ashley T Brundage, President & CEO of Empowering Differences. In addition to recognizing the LGBTQ+ community, we learned about steps and actions we all can take to inspire others, create opportunities for equal access, and be better leaders and allies.
We hosted a special event featuring two of our female general managers in which they shared their personal stories about their career journeys in a more male-dominated field, work-life balance and more. Special guests from Howard University’s Marriott-Sorenson Center for Hospitality Leadership, one of our partner organizations, also attended the event.
We hosted a series of educational and celebratory events throughout the month to recognize our Black colleagues and community, including an on-site cooking demo by a local African American chef and holistic nutritionist, a lunch and learn hosted by one of our own employees and a social justice fair featuring several of our nonprofit partners.
